Dr. Bruce Withers, DVM
Dr. Withers graduated from Michigan State University in 1992. He has worked in the Kalamazoo community in private and emergency practices since 1995. He purchased Eighth Street Veterinary Care in 2007 from Dr. Hassing. Dr. Withers especially enjoys the daily interactions with clients and their pets and has a special interest in dentistry, surgery, and mammalian exotics. Dr. Withers and Amy have 6 children and 2 cats. His hobbies include bicycling and serving at church.
Dr. Will Overton, DVM
Dr. Overton came to us from down South. He is originally from the great State of Florida. Will graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2022. He completed a small animal rotation internship focusing on Emergency Medicine and Surgery following Vet School. Dr. Overton went on to work in animal shelters and public service prior to moving to Kalamazoo. Will has special interest in Surgery, Geriatric Care, Pain Management, and improving the human-animal bond. Dr. Overton’s hobbies include, cycling, carpentry, fishing, and spending time with his Wife, 2 dogs, and 2 cats.
Amy Withers, Chief of Staff
Amy has been working for Eighth Street since 2011 and came to us as a certified vet assistant. She worked in the restaurant business for over 20 years using her extensive management experience, however, her true love is working with animals. Amy and Dr Withers have 6 children and 2 cats. In her spare time she loves going for long hikes and cycling.
Peggy, Receptionist/Accounting
Peggy has worked at Eighth Street Veterinary Care part time as a receptionist and accountant for many years. She divides her time between the clinic and her local family business. Peggy is married and has 2 married sons and 4 grand kids. She and her husband enjoy spending time at their property up north. Peggy has 2 miniature donkeys, 2 rabbits and 2 dogs.
Kyle, Certified Vet Assistant
Kyle started working for us in 2026. He is a CVA and has a huge heart for animals big and small.
Kyle is a servant to his 7 cats, Zulu, Kamari, Luna, Lola, Binny, Nova, and Niya.
Some of his hobbies include- going to concerts, tye dying, and camping in his free time.
His favorite thing about Veterinary Medicine is helping people understand their pets needs and being a part of their care and quality of life.
Brooklyn, Vet Assistant
Brooklyn joined our family in the summer of 2023. She grew up with cats and dogs and has a deep passion for animals, so she was super excited when she finally landed her dream job. Brooklyn has two dogs and four cats of her own. And in her free time she loves spending time with her fiancé and family. They love going to South Haven to take long walks with her dog.
Tessa, Vet Assistant
Tessa joined our team in the Spring of 2024. She is going to school to be a Vet Technician. Tessa loves all sorts of animals. She has a cat named Zoomey and a Gecko named Persephone. Her hobbies include Dancing, Video games, and hanging out with friends.
Kelsie, Receptionist
Kelsie came to us in 2021. She was previously a 4th grade director at a kids club & is also a freelance & wedding photographer. She has a dog named Nala & a cat named Ez at home. In her free time she enjoys exploring & hiking with her dog, Nala.
Hayley, Vet Assistant
Hayley joined our team early spring of 2024, she is currently in school to become a veterinary technician and is getting her associate’s degree in biology. In her spare time, she enjoys doing nails, playing video games, and spending time with friends. She has always loved animals and has many of her own including a cat, hamster, crested gecko, dog, and a bearded dragon.
Mr. Kitty
Mister came to us in 2019. He loves to greet all of our clients and patients.
